A lot of buzz has been going around again for the game that just seems like they can’t get right. Street Fighter x Tekken hit shelves two and a half months ago on March 6th 2012, and according to Capcom its not hitting projected sales. Honestly, why would it? Capcom figured it would be a good idea to charge for a lot of things that should be unlocks in game or something to the effect. Instead, they are selling these items for a cost deemed rather unreasonable for what you’re getting. For example, Costumes. These costumes are sold as either single character, which is about $1 a piece or $13 for each side of characters. Yes…each side of characters. So you will have to pay that twice to get all costumes. $26 dollars for costumes…tough haul capcom. Not to mention, all the ruckus caused by DLC being shipped on disc, but we won’t get into that. Just add that to the list of things most tend to not speak of, with Religion and Politics. Nicely done Capcom, you just made onto an elite list of things we don’t talk about in groups, feel special.

Now then, that brings us to the current ordeal, the knife throwing glitch with Rolento. With the latest update, they fixed a few combo loops for other characters, and in turn hit a snag with this outlandish happening. Credit goes to fighting game veteran EG|Ricky Ortiz, for finding this out for the rest of the world to comment freely.

It breaks down like this, if a player throws a fireball on the ground (not an air fireball like Akuma/Gouki) and Rolento does his Stinger Move (Forward, Down, Down-Forward with any kick) do the follow up Knife Toss with any Punch button, and have the knife clash with the fireball, your game will lock up and require you to restart your console.

Here’s a video of it, so you can see it in motion. I’ll even fast forward it to the good part so you can see what I mean.

Again Capcom, step your game up man. You guys have been in the game for far too long to let something like this happen, and proceed to not even shell out an immediate time frame to fix the glitch. Oh well, as a person who is trying to find that drive for fighting games again, something like this will set the ideal back a bit since the concept of Capcom and Namco coming together in a fighting game like no other, was so awesome. We get this, and its like, meh, we’ll wait for something else or go play another fighter that’s less glitchy, or at the very least, work out a deal so we can play the Japanese Released only Action Role Playing Game, Namco x Capcom, with English menus for DLC. For we’d all enjoy that.

Double Dragon: Neon arrives this summer with all the action from the original classic game but with added modern gameplay like an upgrade system, online co-op, and more. The game isn’t so much an HD update or a sequel to the 25-year-old classic, but a “love letter” to the original.

Double Dragon: Neon is very much in the spirit of the original – it begins with Marian getting punched in the gut before getting kidnapped, and the Lee brothers set out to save her. Enemies will cartwheel in from off-screen, picking up powerups will add abilities like fireball-tossing to your character’s “mixtape,” and lingering too long in one spot will summon the flashing pointer in the form of a power glove.

The game will feature awesome moves like the Flying Knee from Double Dragon II and will also supply you with all the Abobos you could ever want to beat up. Also, the right thumbstick is dedicated solely to giving high fives, how rad is that?

I’m a huge fan of The Walking Dead as it appears in comics and on my television. When TellTale Games announced they were making a Walking Dead video game, I was ecstatic. Only the reception of their last game, Jurassic Park, made me a little nervous. Let me be the first to say, there was nothing to be concerned about.

The game takes familiar concepts of previous point and click adventure games and offers up a more dynamic and frantic feel. Much like the comic book and television show, The Walking Dead is not about killing zombies. The game is more focused on survival and interactions with other survivors. You will be doing a lot more talking than smashing brains in with a hammer, although that will come up on occasion.

You play as Lee Everett, en ex-University of Georgia professor that had been convicted of a crime and sentenced to serve time in a prison outside of Atlanta. The police car transporting him crashes into a “Walker” and wrecks off the road. Lee wakes up hours later to a world now filled with infected walking dead and horrified survivors.

The first episode has Lee discovering the zombie apocalypse that has plagued Georgia and, possibly, the entire country. He meets a young girl by the name of Clementine and decides to take care of her while on his way to his hometown of Macon. Along the way, Lee will run into familiar faces from the comic series and will have to make some very difficult decisions that could determine how the other episodes play out.

Big decisions that can have an ally dying or surviving, communicating with other survivors and the occasional zombie attack all help set the stage for the end of the world. Everything you do in the game will effect how others see you and, ultimately, if they will trust you or not. The game will even tell you how your actions might affect those around you. If you lie about your origins to someone, and they find out about it, the game will give you small hints like, “This person will remember that you lied to them.” The design is really smart, making note of your decisions so they can come back to haunt you. It’s much like Mass Effect and Dragon Age with regard to the dialog choices you have to make. Unlike those games, though, The Walking Dead gives you a timer for responses and actions. You have to be quick on your feet when it comes to making quick decisions. After all, zombies don’t wait for you to make up your mind.

The action in the game, while somewhat slow, is still very frantic. A simple positioning of the cursor and a button press is all you need, but the game still makes it a point to be brutal and nerve wracking at the same time. When I had to stab a zombie’s skull with a screwdriver, I found myself gritting my teeth along with Lee.

The overall presentation is outstanding. The sound design and music are very well done, and the visuals have a cel-shaded style to them. There are a lot of hard black outlines on all the characters, giving a comic book feel to the entire experience. The facial expressions are some of the best I’ve seen in a TellTale game. You can tell a lot of work has gone into making this game. The voice acting is fantastic as well.

This episode took me about 2 hours to complete. There was a small time, about halfway through the episode, where I got stuck for approximately 10 minutes. There is no hint system like there was in Back to the Future, but after exploring a little more of the area, I was able to figure it out. Even at two hours, the game still has replay value. There are around six major choices you have to make throughout the episode that drastically change what may happen, so going back and trying different options is something I really wanted to do.

All in all, the first episode of The Walking Dead was a fantastic experience. The story telling is wonderful, and the action sequences, while simple and few in number, will keep the player at the edge of their seat the entire time. The star of the game is the character interactions and the way the game handles your relationships with other people. If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead in any way, you need to pick this game up. Fans of a good narrative should look into this game, as well. Let’s just say, I can’t wait for the next episode.

You read that right.  There is a fundraiser to create the big time hype at the world’s largest gaming tournament for King of Fighters XIII.  For those who don’t know, Evolution Fighting game Championships, is a string of events held across the United States with its biggest event being the Tourney they hold in Vegas every year during the summer time.

This time around however, MLG, or Major League Gaming, has decided to join the fray of fighting game events by picking up King of Fighters XIII in their mix of games they hold events for.  Catch is, their event this year is slated to be two weeks after Evo.  Which puts a big hamper on things for those are coming from overseas, since we’re talking about June 8th – 10th for MLG’s event in Anaheim California, and Evo which is in Las Vegas Nevada, July 6th – 8th.  That’s a tough haul for local players, let alone not even living in the country where these events are being hosted.

So the great people over at Snk-Capcom.com are spearheading this fundraiser to highlight the King of Fighters XIII section of the Evolution Fighting game Championships by upping the ante with prizes and cash donations from various companies who care about the scene.  South Town Arcade will be hosting a 24-hour King of Fighters XIII event.  We’ll keep track of the details and keep everyone posted for this noble cause.

In the meantime, if you wish to donate straight cash, check the link here.

Interesting note about this week’s deal of the week. On the Dashboard, it only showed BattleField 3: Back to Karkand DLC. With that out the way, let’s break down the shootin’ and lootin’ of this week’s deal.

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand – Was 1200 Microsoft Points, Now 600 Microsoft Points.
